Dimitris Kaimakliotis RIBA Chartered Architect

Dimitris Kaimakliotis, a young, enthusiastic and innovative architect, was inspired to pursue a career in architecture due to his interest in design and bioclimatic conditions in architecture. Aspiring to design ever more projects that further explore the manipulation of natural light within space and form, Dimitris has returned to Cyprus with the objective of setting up his own studio to explore design further and deliver magnificent architecture. Dimitris’ interest in Sustainable Design and Bioclimatic Architecture urged him in studying at Nottingham University in the UK.

Upon graduating from the American Academy Larnaca, Dimitris completed his compulsory military service, as a member of Cyprus’ special forces. He then left Cyprus to continue his studies at Nottingham University. Specializing in Sustainable tall buildings and Sustainable Design at Nottingham University’s Environmental Education Centre, Dimitris received extensive training in applying innovative technologies in bioclimatic design. Having completed his Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Diploma in Architecture, (Dip Arch), Dimitris sought to extend his studies by attaining a Master of Architecture (MArch) and was awarded the RIBA Chartered Title.

Dimitris has also pursued further education by attending courses at the Architectural Association, School of Architecture in London. Furthermore, Dimitris, as a visiting lecturer, at the School of Built Environment, at Nottingham University, taught the importance of testing one’s ideas in architecture with the use of physical modeling in the postgraduate program of studies.

With projects across the globe, from London to New York, Dimitris brings a level of world-class expertise to the office. Having been a part of Saatchi’s Gallery design team in Sloane Square and the Duke of York Headquarters, when he was a member of Paul Davis and Partners in London, he also worked on high-end residential schemes and urban design projects, such as those located on Wapping Lane and Cornwall Terrace. Additionally, he worked on retail development projects for shops in Marylebone.

During his stay at Cube Design, Dimitris was part of the design team responsible for developing the 2030 Silverstone Masterplan for the Formula One Grand Prix. The Masterplan design provided the strategy and infrastructure which will allow the site to operate as a motorsport venue, a high profile business park and a leisure destination.

 

Gaining valuable experience in the educational sector, Dimitris took part in the designing of the Bath Spa University master plan and the Bath Spa University Building. He also served as project designer for the Bourne Academy, which comprised of a 14-million pound refurbishment and the construction of the new educational school building. Additional educational projects Dimitris worked on include the Sarum Academy and the Ashton Park School.
